One night we put the kids in bed a little earlier than usual, which isn't too hard to pull off since they can't tell time and it gets dark so early. After they had been in bed for a little while we turned on a recording of train sounds outside their bedroom. Then Adam and I went into their bedroom and told them to check under their pillows... and surprise, surprise... they each had their very own ticket to our very own polar express. They put on their slippers and headed out to the living room. They were pretty confused and Lauralee thought the train sounds were real and that the train was going to leave them behind. When they got down to the car they had to have their ticket punched before they could get into the car. We gave each of them a hot chocolate for the road and we drove around "ooohhhing" and "aaaahhhhing" and all the beautiful Christmas lights we could find. The kids LOVED it. Even MK was into it. She would point at lights and say, "See!", then she would say," Ooooohhhhh!" Hogan and Lauralee kept saying, "Bootiful!" When ever we saw an especially pretty light display they would ask us to keep driving by it. We drove by one specific house at least 10 times :)
We had several Rudolph sightings while driving around but none of them even compared to the Rudolph we have living in our very own house...
